Store History & Background:
Opened on 26.07.40 in the High Street. Relocated to new Queens Square Shopping Precinct (part of Crawley becoming a 'new town') on 07.03.57. This quadrupled the store in size and was the first self-service large store. The premises were adapted at the year end in 1964-5, and fully refurbished and modernised 11.11.77. The store was one of the first to get the comparison look as part of Operation Focus, getting a full refurbishment and reopening on 21.10.86. Converted to the latest 10/10 specification after demerger.
