Purpose-built Woolworths store opened in May 1934, sales suffered after the large store was opened nearby in Crawley New Town. Horley was one of the first Woolworths stores to be closed as unprofitable/no prospects in the mid 1970s. Today it is a Boots Pharmacy, although the building still looks every inch a Woolies.
